Texas Commerce Bank South Belt

There were a few photographs from the South Belt Leader's files for Texas Commerce Bank:

Groundbreaking. 



Looking online, the date this branch was established 11/1/1979

Its address was 11222 South Belt Drive, behind the Safeway, which became a drug store, and then the Sagemont Youth building. (Next to that was the Vaudeville Pizza, a picture that eludes me.)

My parents banked here, but my favorite memory, being a kid, was the Christmas time Snow Party Texas Commerce Bank would put on. 

They'd have an ice truck pull in a blow "snow" across the grass between the parking lot and the street. Granted, it turned into an impenetrable block of ice pretty quickly in the humidity, but you did actually get some use out of your gloves and winter coat for a couple of hours. They also had hot chocolate and candy canes to give out. Good memories. 


June 15, 1987, Texas Commerce Band ceased to be, absorbed into Chase.
