Almeda Mall Christmas 1976

I am not sure if 1976 was such a banner year because of the build up around the 200 Year Centennial, but they sure pulled out all the stops.

Santa arrived via helicopter. The train set-up was magnificent, around the 12 Days of Christmas Theme. The following year it would be drastically smaller, with things more spread throughout the mall and Santa just appearing instead of some grand entrance.

After the helicopter, Santa went inside where a skit was playing out. It's a bit hard to get a read on the narrative, of course, but he gets the whole gang to walk with him from the Foley's end down to the train area.

Herewith, the show stopping 1976 Almeda Mall Christmas

And these were purchased from the Houston Public Library in one of the first finds when this blog got going. But since they match up with our living color new finds, here you go
