8/2/84 South Bend Subdivision Sales (@ current avg 14% rate)


This will be the first year that a suit is filed by a South Bend resident claiming both health and property damage associated with living in proximity to Brio Refining and Dixie Oil Processing, but it will be nearly another decade before the EPA does any kind of cleanup, turning this area into a ghost town. And it has consistently denied living adjacent to 23 unlined pits filled with carcinogens that leached into the soil and ground water can be tied to the myriad of health problems experienced and suffered by residents of this "idyllic" neighborhood.
