Sagemont Resident Ron Ledgerwood said he never saw the large chunk of rock coming at him as he rode down the Gulf Freeway June 9 between NASA and Ellington. The impact of the rock, which is thought to be a chunk of the freeway surface, left a hole in his truck window, cut his steering wheel, and left Ledgerwood injured in the chest. After blacking out briefly, Ledgerwood got medical attention. There were no broken bones; however, if he had been driving in a car instead of a pick-up, the rock could have struck him in the head.
In other news, the average age of a South Belt resident in 1981 was 37, with a median income of $37K, 85% married, and 30% college graduates.
