published in today's Leader for May 13, 2021, a photo that ran 40 years ago exactly, on May 13, 1981, when Dana Schoppa won the paper's contest to rename the section of the paper that had been previously entitle "Leader Libel-ettes" which first appeared in the paper January 31, 1979
Prior to that name, "Around the Belt" was the title, first found July 1, 1976
And prior to that, the column about the local comings and goings and celebrations started with the first edition February 5, 1976 as Who's Who
So to recap:
Who's Who = 5 months
Around the Belt = 2.5 years
Leader Libel-ettes = 2.5 years
Over the Back Fence = 40 years and counting!
