A fire at Garfield elementary was the fourth in a string of eerily similar ones that happened in the year between the spring of 1979 and 1980.
April 1, 1979 the arsonist hit Frazier to the tune of half a million dollars in damages.
Six months later, Beverly Hills' offices were burned, causing $50k in damages.
In January of 1980, Burnett's 5th Grade Pod was torched, adding another half a million to the total.
Garfield made four in March 1980, with a fire set in a special education classroom, causing smoke damage to the rest of the school. The arsonist broke into that classroom's window to set the fire.
Another photo run of the damage:
No one was ever charged in any of the cases.
